The Great Planting Fest at Vidya Ghat

In the bustling corridors of GHPS Srirampura, a dynamic group of 6th and 7th-grade students, under the leadership of Headmaster Mr. Shivaram and the guidance of teacher Mr. Lakshminarayan, embarked on an exciting journey with the Veggie4School curriculum. Among them were Gagan, Nikhitha, Mallikarjuna, and Ramya, each bringing their unique energy and enthusiasm to the table. 

Throughout the workshops, the students were actively engaged, eagerly absorbing every lesson and participating with enthusiasm. As they learned about the importance of sustainable gardening practices, their excitement grew, and they eagerly awaited the hands-on activities. 

When the time came to transplant the growing pots, the students approached the task with care and precision. With steady hands and focused minds, they carefully transferred each seedling into its new home, ensuring that it was nestled securely in the soil. Their dedication to the task was evident as they worked together to complete the transplanting process. 

As they watered the seedlings, the students shared smiles of satisfaction, knowing that they were playing a vital role in nurturing new life. Their enthusiasm for the project was infectious, and they eagerly discussed plans for caring for the plants in the days and weeks to come.

Student Commitment and Confidence in Sustainable Gardening

  • Adoption of Square-Foot Gardening, Biodegradable Pots, or Smart Watering:An impressive 100% of students expressed their intent to use all three techniques—square-foot gardening, biodegradable pots, and smart watering—in their future gardens. This unanimous decision reflects their enthusiastic embrace of sustainable gardening practices and confidence in the effectiveness of the Veggie4School curriculum.
  • Perceived Impact of Workshop Learnings on Future Gardens: All students (100%) believe that what they learned today will definitely improve their current or future gardens. This unanimous confidence highlights the effectiveness of the Veggie4School curriculum in equipping students with valuable skills and knowledge for sustainable gardening practices.

For the students of GHPS Srirampura, the Veggie4School curriculum was more than just a series of workshops; it was an opportunity to connect with nature, learn new skills, and make a positive impact on their environment. With Mr. Shivaram’s leadership and Mr. Lakshminarayan’s guidance, they emerged as stewards of the earth, ready to continue their journey towards a greener, more sustainable future. And as they tended to their gardens with care and dedication, they planted the seeds of change, promising a brighter tomorrow for all.
